Tips for Keeping Pets Safe and Cool

  1. Hydration: Always carry plenty of water for your dog and offer it frequently.

  2. Shade: Take breaks in shaded areas to avoid overheating.

  3. Paw Protection: Hot pavement can burn paws; consider dog booties or walking during cooler parts of the day.

  4. Sunscreen: Apply pet-safe sunscreen to dogs with short or light-colored fur.

  5. Signs of Heatstroke: Know the signs, such as excessive panting, drooling, and lethargy. If you notice these, move to a cooler place and offer water immediately.

  6. Proper Identification: Ensure your dog is wearing a collar with up-to-date tags and is microchipped.

  7. Leash Laws: Follow local leash laws and be mindful of other beachgoers and their pets.
